8. Interview vlogger off-screen

Summary

• Place the interviewee ⅓ from either side of the screen
• Keep the direction the interviewee is facing open
• Make sure their eyes are ⅓ from the top
• Hold the camera to your left side if they're aligned on the left side of the screen, or vice versa
• Keep the camera at your eye level
• Ask the interviewee to look at you, so they look just past the lens

Exercise

Conduct an interview with only the interviewee on screen. Ask your interviewee: ‘Do you prefer pizza or pasta, and why?’ or any other question you’d like. Make a recording of approximately 30 seconds.
