Summary
- Position both the reporter and the interviewee in front of the camera, turned towards each other while still facing the camera
- Maintain equal spacing between the back of their heads and the side of the screen
- The top line of the rule of thirds grid should be at eye level. If they are not the same height, then make sure the top line is located between the different eye levels
- The bigger the difference in height, the further away you stand with the camera
Exercise
Make a recording of about 30 seconds according to the rules above. Ask the interviewee the question: 'What would you do with an extra day in your week?' Take turns so that you’ll have taken on the role of cameraman, reporter and interviewee.
