Summary
- Stand close to the interviewee so that the reporter can easily hold the microphone close to the mouth of the interviewee
- The interviewee should face and look at the reporter
- Apply the rule of thirds
- Make sure the reporter is standing close to the camera
- The reporter microphone should be about 20 to 30 centimetres from the interviewee’s mouth
Exercise
Make a recording of about 30 seconds according to the rules above. Ask the interviewee the question: ‘Why do you think this artwork appeals to the public so much?’ Take turns in the different roles so that you’ve been the cameraman, reporter and interviewee.
