This is the tutorial for the compact tripod that came with the Gadget Pack up until the Summer of 2023. If you have the large tripod, please watch the previous tutorial.
Summary
How to adjust the legs
- You can fold the legs down in three different positions
- To fold the legs back up: pull the ring at the top downwards, and fold the leg back up
- To extend the legs: twist the foot of the leg. Each 'click' you feel corresponds with a segment of the leg you can extend by pulling on the foot. Make sure to twist the foot back so it locks the leg and it doesn't fold back in.
The head of the tripod
- Turn the knob on the side in order to point the head in the direction you like
- Don't forget to twist the head back to the side before storing the tripod in your Gadget Pack, as you might otherwise damage the Gadget Pack interior
- You can screw the phone mount on top of the head of the tripod
- By turning the screw on top of the phone mount, you can adjust the height and secure your phone in place
The top rod of the tripod
- Twist the big ring that's positioned around the rod, to loosen the top rod of the tripod. You can now adjust the height. Twist the ring back in the other direction in order to secure the rod.
- In order to extend the top rod, twist the head of the tripod. You can feel four 'clicks'. Each 'click' you feel corresponds with a segment of the rod you can extend by pulling on the head. Make sure the twist the head back in the other direction so the rod doesn't fold back in.
If you want to invert the top rod of the tripod:
- Unscrew the hook at the bottom of the rod
- Loosen the big ring that's around the rod by twisting it, and pull the rod out from the top
- Place the rod back through the bottom, and tighten the ring again so it stays in place
- Lastly, screw the hook back on the end of the rod so it doesn't run the risk of falling out
Quick tips
- Place your camera at eye level of the interviewee
- When filming handheld, use the tripod! Pull the legs slightly outward as your holding it, to ensure a stable grip and to make sure that the legs down accidentally fold inwards while you're filming
