Make a shot list of what you need to shoot for your video beforehand.
What shots will you need for each section of your video?
- Introduction: establishing shots (among other shots)
- Body: depends on the story (but many!)
- Conclusion: depends on the story
Make shots of:
- The things your speaker talks about
- Your speaker in their natural habitat
- Your speaker in an environment that is otherwise relevant to the story
Your editor can set the pace of the video with B-roll and make something really amazing of your story. So make sure to shoot plenty of B-roll!
